Ophir eyes Salamander Energy to tap into Southeast Asia

Jarkata: Gas exploration company Ophir Energy is currently in negotiations to buy rival company Salamander Energy in a £275m bid.

Salamander Energy has primary business activities in Southeast Asia with a number of licences spread throughout Indonesia and Thailand.

Nick Cooper, ceo of Ophir said earlier that the company is excited by the exploration and market opportunities in Southeast Asia.

Spanish energy company Cepsa has also joined the bid to buy Salamander Energy. [27/10/14]
