Sembcorp Marine’s Jurong Shipyard lands $1bn Transocean deal
Singapore: Sembcorp Marine’s Jurong Shipyard has signed contracts with Transocean to build two drillships for US$540 million each, with options for three more.

The drillships will be based on they yard’s proprietary Jurong Espadon III design, equipped with state-of-the-art drilling facilities, a large moon pool to cater for a larger riser angle and bilge boxes designed for superior motion characteristics.

William Gu, gm of Jurong Shipyard’s offshore division said “We would like to thank Transocean for selecting us and for their confidence in our Jurong Espadon III design and capabilities.”

Today has been a good day for Sembcorp Marine, with PPL Shipyard securing a jack-up rig order from offshore vessel operator Marco Polo Marine for $214.3m. [27/02/14]
