Shipping Corp of India eyes more SE Asian routes

Singapore: The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) is looking to beef up container calls in Southeast Asia as part of India’s Look East policy.

India’s state-run shipping line is looking at boosting calls to Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand. This follows on from a new service launched last week from Krishnapatnam on India’s east coast to Yangon in Myanmar. SCI executives are already looking at upgrading the size of vessels on its new Myanmar service from 1,500 teu to 4,500 teu.  [09/10/14]
