Singapore: One of the three dead from Friday’s barge sinking off Batam should not have been onboard the vessel, his family claim.

Singaporean national Terence Chew Zhi Wei, 31, worked in marketing for Pacc Offshore Services Holdings, which was conducting a submerging trial of the semi-submersible barge, Posh Mogami, last Friday, two nautical miles northeast of the Indonesian port of Sekupang.

The barge tilted unexpectedly and sank. Chew, who could not swim, perished with a Burmese and a Chinese national.
