Body of missing captain recovered after vessel collision

Hanoi: The missing body of a fishing boat captain has been recovered after a four-day search.

Nguyen Van Thuong, 30, was found today, seven nautical miles from where his boat collided with the Malaysia-flagged Newton 5 barge and Newton 3 tugboat on October 11.

Thuong fell overboard and drowned after the collision tore a hole in the fishing boat’s hull.

The fishing boat was carrying 12 people at the time of the accident, which occurred some 17 nautical miles from the Vung Tau cape, Vietnam.
