Singapore: The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has reported that South Korean-registered bulk carrier, Oriental Pioneer, and a Bahamas-registered bulk carrier, Atlantic Hero, collided this morning about 6.6km south-west of Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.
Close to 100 metric tonnes of fuel oil was spilled due to damage sustained by the Oriental Pioneer’s bunker tank. Currently 10 patrol and anti-pollution craft have been deployed to clean up the spilled oil.
The MPA will be investigating the cause of the collision, with the two vessels now safely anchored, while traffic in the port and the Strait of Singapore is unaffected.
